Just a few things

So the doctor called me yesterday, well the nurse did, and my blood work came back negative for low thyroid. Really good, yet really strange, news! I'm now seriously going to call up the doctor from LAST year, and see just exactly what level my thyroid was at then. At least I won't have to take medication daily for the rest of my life! I think I'm just going to make sure that I get some exercise every day, go easy on the caffeine, and really be aware of the nutrients I'm taking in. Those aren't bad ideas anyway, and if they can help alleviate this fatigue, it's all the better.

I spent part of my Friday night obsessing over Steve Sandvoss, my current celebrity drool toy. Here's a pic of him:

He's a beautiful specimen of man-flesh. So, even though I didn't have a wild crazy social outting last night, I had a little fun. ;)

Today's To-do list:
*Get exercise
*Long for a vacation
*Get on Doug's case for not meeting yet (hey Doug, have you heard about that party in West Valley next week?)
*Find way to destroy all 6-legged creatures in my kitchen
*Be fabulous (you don't have to be gay to be fabulous!)
*Grocery shopping
*And maybe some random chore

Well, that's good that your thyroid is normal. But limiting the caffeine? Is it REALLY fair to punish yourself that way? My solution to fatigue: more, More, MORE!!!

Points well taken.

Me = not dying and HIGH on caffeine

AND, there are many things that can cause problems. Did they check your parathyroid?

Excuse me while I step up on the rickety soapbox...

Fatigue is most commonly a nutrition issue. The thing is, everybody's needs are a bit different, so you're somewhat on your own learning what your body needs.

As a general rule of thumb, stay away from sugars and fats (except an occasional treat).

If I indulge in a Friday donut at work, or a piece of birthday cake at an office birthday party, I start feeling the effects within like 30 minutes, sometimes less. No lie! And I don't feel fully recovered from that for sometimes a couple days even.

Caffeine is a similar experience. I just moderate myself to keep away from the crashes and the addiction.

Just take a look at what you're eating and see if there's some imbalance there. You basically want to eat by the rainbow -- get lots of colors (not artificial ones, silly), especially green.

Snacking is where I have the problem, so I try to choose a lesser of two evils.

For example, I have a major "salt tooth" (you know, most people have a "sweet tooth", but mine is a "salt tooth"). The most yummy way to feed the salt tooth is with some kind of chips or nachos, with or without dips. But there are very few reasonable choices there. So instead I go for peanuts. Yeah, they're high in fat, but it's monounsatured fat, is pretty good for you in moderation, and I get some extra protein to boot). Or I go for baked torilla chips (still got a bunch of bad fat), but instead of dip, I'll go for salsa. And even this I'll only allow myself to do once a week or less.

Just look for creative ways to balance and substitute if you find a weak spot. :) Oh, and keep up the running (or aerobic-level walking will do just as good) -- nothing boosts metabolism and energy levels quite like regular vigorous activity (sex counts). ;)
