Lack of the Spirit?

For some reason, this year, I haven't gotten into the spirit of Fall festivities. I haven't hung decorations. We carved pumpkins (I got as far as carving the lid, that's all) but we left them over at my sister's house and I haven't felt the urge to go retrieve them. We haven't made yummy Fall treats. The Black Forest cake was more in honor of Oktoberfest, not so much Fall. Anyway, I'm just trying to figure out why I'm so complacent about my favorite season this year.

Oh, and why did Kellogg's take the sugar off the raisins in Raisin Bran?

Sugar, when combined with raisin extract has the same chemical make-up as Splenda, and we all know where that comes from.

Bishop can't get past the Monkey Placenta. Eeew. I must say it's hard not to have a morbid fascination with it...

Who eats Raisin Bran? Ew!

Frosted Flakes rule.

Or Fruit Loops.

Or Apple Jacks.

Or Honeycomb.

Or Cheerios.

Anything that doesn't have those nasty dried up grapes that double as lumpy monkey placentas.

I think it's because you miss me. If I'd realized my leaving was going to have such a detrimental effect I would have, you know, felt at least a little bad about shaking the dust off my feet.

When in college, I had this obsession with Total(tm) Raisin Bran. It had some interesting side effects which earned it the nickname "colon blow" by my roommate (who also got hooked) and me.

In any case, I'm not feeling very festive either. I don't think I'm even going to make any effort at anything resembling a costume when taking the kiddos out.

Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't.

It's the raisins.

Stop eating those and you'll feel more festive.

:)

I'd do a jig, taking the box to the garbage and throwing them away.

The spirit does not dwell in unholy temples . . . I mean, me neither.

Rebecca, if I had the pleasure of meeting you, I know my lack of spirit would be because you're gone. I wish that was my excuse!

La, I'm with you, girl. I just realized today... like 5 minute ago... that earlier this summer I put all of our halloween decorations and pumpkins and such in storage, figuring we would have moved by now. Yeah, nothing like October 31st to make you realize that you haven't decorated for Halloween yet. sigh

I've got to admit that it totally wouldn't get done if it weren't for my hubby. He even puts it away...so when I get home someday this week or next, I'll discover they already put it all away and got everything back in order. My husband knows that it's something I'm not so good at. I'm no domestic goddess.
