One Small Step for La

I'm following in the footsteps of my dear blogging friends and I'm trying my hand at erotica. But I'm a little nervous to post it here. I need to finish off this last part of my story, so it's not quite done yet. I just thought I would announce to the world that I'm giving it a go.

I think everyone should do some erotica writing. Go ahead!

Oh, and as a side note, I saw Brokeback Mountain today. And Donnie Darko. It was a Jake Gyllenhaal fest! :)

La, you saw my attempt at erotica. What can I say? I was a mormon housewife for 12 years...anything is erotic for me!! Just let have a go. There is no such thing as bad sex...but mine was funny as hell!!!

Erotica, eh?

This is a genre I haven't tried yet. I don't know that I would post it on my blog. Besides, one person's turn-on can be another person's turn-off - it's tough enough to write, let alone post something that makes someone go flaccid or numbs their nipples.

Yeah, I'm not sure about posting it either, sid. I'm not sure yet, but maybe I'll email it around.

Saint'n, the difference is by degree, you're right. I may be wrong, but from what I understand, erotica is written porn. Porn has visual aspect, while erotica is subject to interpretation and imagination.

Am I wrong on that? Anyone?

La... I think you are right... I have never written erotica... But erotica engages the imagination in a way that visual does not. :-)

If you decide not to post the erotica, I'd like to be on the circulation list for it. I haven't read any in years, so I'll probably be an easy mark. And you don't have to worry too much about the limp effect for me -- if it doesn't do anything for me, it won't make me stop coming to your blog or anything. ;)

Porn = visual.

Erotica = written (sometimes poorly, sometimes not)

COOL!!!

I don't have any problem with the terms "porn" or "erotica" - they both work splendidly :)

LOl.. well LA I guess the authority won (Saint'n) ;-)

But... you cannot argue that some of us like words better than pictures...

I agree with saint'n that using visual vs. written to distinguish porn from erotica doesn't really cut it. As a flip side to his example of written porn, it's pretty easy to find books of artsy nude photos classified as erotica.

I think the difference is just that one term has positive connotations and one has negative connotations, or at best it's a question of highbrow vs. lowbrow.

p.s. I hope your erotic writing is going well!!! :D
